Protecting intellectual property, the ‘missing partner’

Over the past several months I have attended numerous law enforcement events focusing on the protection of intellectual property rights (IPR), highlighting the battle that Customs and other law enforcement agencies face from those that have no consideration for the safety or economic problems they create. The most significant of these events, the 2014 International Law Enforcement Intellectual Property (IP) Crime Conference, hosted by INTERPOL and the Underwriters Laboratories in Hanoi, Vietnam, was attended by several hundred law enforcement professionals, Customs officials, rights holders, private investigators, and IP attorneys.
