Customs Consultative Committees (CCCs) or similar bodies have been set up in EU Member States, the UK and other countries to bring business and Customs together to discuss issues, share knowledge and improve the business environment.

For whom the knowledge is relevant?

Companies dealing with Customs and Associations representing such companies.

Who shares the knowledge?

Anthony Buckley, Chair of the CCC in Ireland for a number of years during the Brexit preparations and Enrika Naujoke, Director of Lithuanian Customs Practitioners Association, a member of CCC in Lithuania

What will you learn?

You will learn aswers to the following questions:

  • What is the structure of the CCC?
  • The work of CCC takes place in meetings. What is the usual agenda? How often are the meetings organised?
  • How does that work with answering questions from the companies? Which questions are appropriate? In what way can they be asked?
  • What problems Anthony sees in the process of raising business questions with CCC?
  • What about the possibility for business to initiate the CCC meeting?
  • When can we expect an answer to the question raised at the CCC meeting?
  • What other benefits should business consider about raising questions with CCC?
  • Are CCCs mandatory in EU Member States? If not, what is the practice?
  • What about a Customs Consultative Committee at EU level?

The CCC is not intended to be one-way. It is intended to also involve active participation of business.

Anthony Buckley, Chair of CKI

We are talking to Barbara Scott, the Chair of the CPG about the period of time ranging from 1988, when CPG was established, to today: When and how was the idea to establish CPG born? What was the customs environment then? What was the environment of similar groups? What about today and the future?
