At least one answer needs be selected to proceed.
The easiest way to understand export control is to know the '4W' questions: What are we going to send (is it a listed item?)? For what reason (catch all)? Where do we want to send (embargoes)? To whom we are sending (sanctions)? In this course you will learn how to answer these questions and how to meet the relevant EU and also extraterritorial legal requirements in your company.
The course is one of the modules of the extensive Customs clearance and trade compliance in the EU training (see the brochure).
Lessons
The course consists of 7 lessons:
- Freedom of trade vs export control; legal basis
- EU Dual-Use Regulation: Regulation (EU) 2021/821 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 May 2021 setting up a Union regime for the control of exports, brokering, technical assistance, transit and transfer of dual-use items (recast)
- Military goods
- Embargoes/ sanctions
- Authorisation/ documents
- Internal Compliance Programme (ICP)
- US export control
Please do the readings provided in resources before taking the quiz. In addition, read articles of interest on the platform during the entire learning period (after purchasing the course, you will get access to the articles).
Outcome
At the end of the course, you should:
- Understand the purpose of export control, sanctions, embargoes, and how they work in practice;
- Know where the legal requirements are set out, including the requirements for export authorisations;
- Understand the importance of Internal Compliance Programme and the content of it;
- Know what extra-territoriality means and what are the related challenges for businesses.
Upon successful completion of the quiz questions (more than 60% of the questions must be answered correctly), you will receive a certificate of completion.
Time
Please plan around 5 hours to complete this module.
We continue to live in a sanctioned world that requires special attention and management.
