More than 70 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas acceded to the TIR Convention. TIR Carnet is an intermodal document. The goods with it can be transported by sea, air, rail and truck, provided the load department in which the goods are transported (for example, a container) is approved by customs as secure and suitable for sealing. Also it is required that a part of the transportation is done by truck. There are more rules and requirements, of course, which we invite you to learn in this training.
This training is Lesson 7 of Transit module, which is one of the 21 modules of an extensive 'Customs Clearance and Trade Compliance in the EU' course. Please note, that the quiz mentioned in the video is available in the Transit module.
Lessons
The training consists of three lessons:
- In the first, we will analyse a practical case to answer the question: How does the TIR procedure work?
- Then we will discuss the roles of various stakeholders and the five pillars of the TIR system;
- In the third part, you will learn how to fill out the TIR Carnet and to lodge it with customs.
In the resouces section, please find the model of a TIR Carnet.
Time
Please plan to dedicate around 40 minutes to this training.
The TIR system is the international customs transit system with the widest geographical coverage. So, worthwhile to study!
